Impressionen aus dem Französischen Viertel der chinesischen Metropole Shanghai haben den Impuls zu einem weiteren Stück der »Histoires« gegeben. Mit Arabesque soll ein zweiter Band von Stücken für Kontrabass und Klavier beginnen, das an die Tradition der französischen »Musique de Salon« anknüpft.

Der Kontrabasspart ist zunächst melancholisch und sehnsuchtsvoll gehalten, bis ein feierlicher und rhythmischer Teil sehr viel Optimismus verbreitet. Ein Stück, bei dem der gesamte Umfang des Kontrabasses ausgenutzt wird.

Impressions from the French Quarter of the Chinese metropole Shanghai initiated the composition of another piece of »Histoires«. Arabesque marks the beginning of a second volume of music for double bass and piano in the tradition of French Musique de Salon«.

Starting with a melancholic and longing entry of the double bass, the piece is concluded by a celebratory and rhythmical ending. The whole range of the double bass is covered.
