Der Titel der Komposition scheint auf das tiefe Register der vier Kontrabässe anzuspielen. In Wirklichkeit nimmt er aber auch Bezug auf den 130. Psalm. Die vier Bässe stellen ein profundes Gegengewicht zur Orgel dar. Die rund zehnminütige einsätzige Komposition ist ein sakrales Werk und überwiegend in Moll gehalten. Die Harmonik spiegelt dabei den Text mit »Anrufung«, »Verzweiflung« und »Flehen“«wider, bevor ein versöhnlicher Dur-Teil für einen positiven Schluss sorgt.

The title seems to refer to the low registers of the bass instruments – but here it also corresponds with the 130th psalm. The four basses are always a string quartet, turning out to be a profound counterbalance to the organ. This one movement-piece of ten minutes is a sacred music almost in minor. The harmony alludes to the bible text and reflects to »Invocation«, »Desperation« und »Imploration«, before ending in a conciliatory major key.
